Bands of Brothers (Concert 11/11/2012) 12 Vets, 3 Bands, 1 Cause – PTSD
BANDS OF BROTHERS BENEFIT CONCERT
November 11, 2012 – World Cafe, Philadelphia, PA. – 7:30pm
Every day hundreds of thousands of returning veterans have to face the reality of living their lives with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). But there is no reason they have to face it alone.
Bands of Brothers is a non-profit dedicated to letting veterans know there is hope, connecting them with people who can help, and raising money for research and treatment. Capitalizing on the popularity of reality television to reach a large audience the organization created Bands of Brothers TV. Using the power of music to unite and inspire, twelve returning vets will form three bands.
Their cause: to raise awareness and understanding of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and provide support and treatment to their fellow vets living with PTSD. Their mission: to perform an amazing show for a packed house at the renowned World Café Live in Philadelphia. Their challenge: they don’t know each other, their songs or what it’s like to perform on stage in front of a large crowd.
Bands of Brothers TV will follow their story from the time they first meet through the big show. Guided by instructors from the Cherry Hill School of Rock, we will see them master their instruments and overcome the many obstacles that stand between them and a crowd cheering for an encore.
There will be surprise challenges along the way as the band-mates get advice from other celebrity musicians, professional stylists, and sound engineers. The winning band will walk away with a prize package and the honor of being the best of the best. But they will all know they have helped the countless men and women who served our country and now need our help.
