The Semper Fi Fund, and its program America’s Fund [10], provide
immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11
wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S.
Armed Forces, and their families, ensuring that they have the resources
they need during their recovery and transition back to their
communities.

Most wheelchair bound service members and those with catastrophic
injuries require adaptive housing. Handicap modifications are costly,
but necessary. Bathroom modifications usually cost around $25,000, while
kitchen adaptations are even more expensive. Even minor renovations such
as doorways and handicap ramps can cost $7,000 and $10,000 respectively.
To ease the financial strain caused by house payments, the Semper Fi
Fund (SFF) will provide funding toward the cost of their home, depending
upon the need. The SFF also grants assistance to those who have fallen
behind on their housing payment due to injury, recovery and
rehabilitation costs. The Semper Fi Fund also assists with accessibility
items and provides direct peer mentoring opportunities. Our goal is to
help wounded service members remain in their homes without the added
financial burden of these extra costs.
