This dog tag was obtained by the brother in law of Scott Guntz, in a desk that he bought in Florida. Scott’s friend Paul Guinta reached out for help in locating veteran/family.

Frank Theodore Funke II was born on September 24, 1916, in Newark, New Jersey. His father, Frank T Funke Jr, was 32 and his mother, Augusta (Manning) Funke, was 33.

His sister, Mary, was born in 1908, and his brother, Edward, was born in 1910.
They lived in and around Irvington NJ during his childhood.

He attended Stanton Military Academy and became a member of the Essex Troop. Frank enlisted in the Army on January 6, 1941, in West Orange, New Jersey. He was 24 years old. At the time he and his parents resided at 304 Myrtle Ave, Irvington, NJ. During the war, he served with the 102nd Cavalry as Sgt Major and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. In November 1944 he was wounded in action. At the time he was 1st Sgt.

After the war, he was a plant manager for Marcal Products in NJ. He was a 33rd degree Mason, F & AM in NJ.

His son, Frank T Funke III, was born September 3rd, 1954 in Irvington, NJ.

In 1992, Frank T Funke II and his wife, Catherine, moved to Palm Beach, FL. (8441 150Th CT N, Palm Beach, FL)

On March 9, 2002 he passed away at Hospice of Palm beach county.

His wife, Catherine, had passed away on January 24, 2001, just a year earlier.

Catherine was an office manager for J. Leven & Co in Parsippany before retiring. She was prominent and very active int he German American Assoc in Irvington, NJ.

At the time of their deaths, they were survived by their son, Frank T. Funke III (his wife Stephanie) of Palm Beach Gardens and 2 granddaughters, Michelle Funke and Heather Fisher.

Frank Funke’s II son, Frank Funke III, grew up in Irvington, NJ and moved to FL about 1988. He married Stephanie M. Grande and had two children, Heather V.( born 1975) and Michelle F.(born 1983) . He and Stephanie divorced in 2007 (filed in 2005). Stephanie got remarried to Christopher R Sallen in about 2008. Frank did not remarry.

Complete knowledge of electronic surveillance equipment. - Marketing Director/Director of Operations - handling public relations with existing accounts and responsible for bringing in new accounts. - Field Investigator - responsible for video surveillance documenting activities in bodily and personal injury cases.

Frank T Funke’s son, Frank T Funke III, now retired, is 63 years old, and lives in Florida. It appears he had a few strokes in 2017, back problems and has had some health hurdles he has been dealing with (according to Facebook page).
