Our friend Mitch Wolfe contacted us about another set of dog tags he found. Mitch, a Kentucky resident, has found all sorts of relics while medal detecting and reaches out to us when he finds dog tags.

These dog tags belong to WWII Avery V Sparks who served in the US Army Dec 1942 - Oct 1945. Avery served with the US Army 1st Tank Battalion.

Unfortunately, Avery Sparks passed away in 1960 at the age of 55. His mother, Lizzie Sparks, who is also listed on his dog tags, passed away in 1955. He was married to Ruby (Johnson), who passed away in 1983 and his only son, Lonnie, passed away in 2011.

Luckily, we were able to find his great nephew, Mathew Sparks - Matthew's grandfather was Avery's brother - he and his wife, Barbara, are looking forward to getting Avery's dog tags - Matthew will keep it alongside his father and grandfathers mementos !
