Dog Tags found off I17 in Arizona
In Feb 2021, Carlos Payan, a wildland firefighter in AZ, found a set of dog tags wrapped around a rear view mirror, on I-17, near a rest stop, about an hour north of Phoenix. He contacted us to help him find who they belonged to.
At that same spot, in 1999, USMC veteran Lajos Nytray was involved in car accident - his vehicle went off the road and overturned several times after having a blowout. He had internal injuries and multiple fractures and unfortunately his friend died of his injuries. The rear view mirror, where Nyitray’s dog tags were hanging, was broken and thrown from the vehicle.
Here we are 22 years later, firefighter Carlos Payan, finds Lajos Nyitray's dog tags .....living just a short distance apart.
We put them in touch and are so happy to report that Carlos returned the dog tags to Lajos this afternoon! (Feb 7, 2021).
