We were contacted by Valerie, whose father found these set of dog tags on the banks of the New River, near Prince, West Virginia.

Dan G Garrett, was born August 9, 1931 in Sulphur Springs, Indiana. He was the son of Pliny and Bula Garrett.

Pfc Garrett enlisted in the Army July 17, 1950 and had basic training at Ft Riley, Kansas. He graduated from the Medical Replacement Training Center at the Brooke Medical Center at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX in June of 1951. 

He reported to Camp Lawton, Washington, on August 3, 1951 for overseas duty. He was stationed at Hwachon in Korea - four miles north of the 38th Parallel and returned back to the US in September of 1952.

After leaving the military, Mr Garrett returned to his home town, was married twice, had one son and several stepchildren. He passed away May 11, 2001. 

He was buried, with military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion on May 14, 2001 at the Miller Cemetery in Middletown, Indiana.

We are happy to report we were able to locate the son of Mr Dan Garrett so that Valerie may return them to his family.
