Military Dog Tag of Slain Veteran Philip Heintzen
Returning the military dog tag of Philip H Heintzen, who was killed in a brutal stabbing attack in 2009, is our focus now.
Philip H Heintzen was born in Wisconsin in 1928, served in the US Army, worked as the chief financial officer for a shoe company and his wife, Sandra, was an executive at McDonalds until their retirement in the early 1990s.
They then moved from Wisconsin to a seniors community in Leesburg, Florida and spent most of their time enjoying each others company. According to their son, PJ Marx, they were the kind of couple that could finish each others sentences. They had been married over 50 years.
In April 2009, Philip and his wife Sandra were making their way from a Target store to their car in Mount Doro, FL. Philip Heintzen had been walking ahead of his wife to open the car door for her when Jonathan Levy jumped him from behind and stabbed him.
Levy then turned on Sandra Heintzen after she hit him with her cane in an attempt to defend her husband. Philip, 80 years old, died 11 days later and his wife Sandra, 69 years old, died of her injuries 3 months after the attack.
Philip's son has been located and plans are underway to make contact.
ORIGIN of DOG TAG: Gary Hall, a friend of Patriot Connections Dog Tag Project, came across Philips' military dog tag at a flea market in Deland FL and enlisted our help again to reunite the dog tag with his family.
