William Sapp, a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, discovered over a dozen military dog tags near the old Kansas City dump site along the Missouri River. As an avid explorer, Sapp had collected many treasures throughout the years, but none as priceless as these forgotten mementos of the past. In early 2023, Bill Sapp, his friend and comrade David Owen and Sue Quinn-Morris of Patriot Connections Dog Tag Project embarked on the journey to get all the military dog tags home to the veterans and/or their families

In a heartwarming twist of fate, a treasured military dog tag once belonging to WWII veteran Glenn Carriker found its way back to his son.

RESEARCH: Through research, including numerous sources, the story of Glenn Carriker began to come to life.

Glenn E Carriker, a WWII veteran, was born in 1923 and passed away on November 2, 1981, at the age of 58.

Glenn served in the Army during WWII, showcasing his dedication and bravery. As a contractor by trade, Glenn's skills and craftsmanship surely left a lasting impact. Not only was he a valued member of the McMurry United Methodist Church, but he also found joy and companionship as part of the Wally Byarn Caravan Club, the International Cessna Association, and the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association.

His final resting place is at the Terrace Park Cemetery in Kansas City, MO, where his memory continues to live on.

DOG TAG RETURN: After researching, Quinn-Morris located his surviving son, Burton Carriker, who is the CEO of Eagle View Behavioral Health in Bettendorf, Iowa . A heartfelt conversation about his father ensued and he looked forward to getting his dad’s dog tag back.

Quinn-Morris put Burton and Dave in touch so that Dave could send the dog tag to him.
