Fred A Bartlett Dog Tag Found in Walpole, NH
Patriot Connections Dog Tag Project was recently contacted by Joshua Paulette. While medal detecting he came across a dog tag buried about 8” under ground in Walpole, NH.
Coming from a military and law enforcement family he know how returning such items can something good for the family to have and he turned to us for help in doing so.
The dog tag found, pictured here, belongs to Fred A Bartlett.
Fred Atwood Bartlett was born on March 6, 1907 in New Boston, NH (son of Ernest and Annie Bartlett).
He attended schools in Manchester, NH and Boston University. He served in the US Army for 22 years during World War II and Korea.
After retirement from the Army he was a teacher at Peekskill Military Academy in Peekskill and later worked for the city of Nashua in housing code enforcement.
At the time of his death in 1986, he was survived by his wife Francies Dean Bartlett of Nashua, one daughter Mrs Deborah Holland of Nashua , one brother John of California and several grandchildren.
His wife Francies, died in 2000, and his daughter Deborah Holland died June 28, 2013. She was born in 1933 in Walpole, NH where she graduated high school before going to college. They had resided on Cold River Rd, in Walpole, NH, which is where Joshua found Fred Bartlett's dog tag.
One of Fred's grandsons, Jared "Jed" Holland, has been located. He is the music director at the UU Church of Nashua. https://uunashua.org/worship/music-and-choir/. http://preservit.com/nashua . Sue Quinn-Morris made contact with Jared in November 2023. Joshua Paulette will be meeting Jared Holland in December 2023 to return Bartlett's dog tag to him. 🙂
1940 Census Records
Fred and Francies were married in 1939 (see marriage records), however in 1940 they are not living together. Fred is in PA and Francies is living with her parents and daughter, Deborah, on COLD RIVER ROAD in WALPOLE, NH. (see below)
