Veterans from Post 184, American Legion and Chapter 955, Vietnam Veterans of America, Wildwood, plan to host a rally March 25 at the Wildwood Vietnam Memorial Wall at 11 a.m.

Those organizations, joined by veterans and their families and extended families, bring awareness of the effects of toxic exposure to Agent Orange.

That defoliant, widely used in the Vietnam War, has affected millions of veterans and is being investigated to have an adverse effect on the children and grandchildren of those veterans.

Also, the rally will focus on the health care that veterans are receiving from the Veterans Administration (VA) in Cape May County.

According to a release, veterans are often required to make the trip to Wilmington Del. or Philadelphia to get health care, often for just a 10-minute appointment.

The rally begins at the Wildwoods Vietnam Memorial Wall, Burk and Ocean avenues.

After some brief speeches, a motorcade will proceed to milepost 17 on the Garden State Parkway (Ocean View Rest Stop) where the second part of the rally will occur.

It is expected that the group will arrive there about 12:15 to 1 p.m.

At that location, there is ample, safe off-highway parking.

The rally at that location will be held at the veterans memorial at the south end of the plaza.

The event is being organized by Bill Davenport, president Chapter 955, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Harry Weimar, commander Post 184, American Legion.
