Operation Beachhead grew out of the desire to provide fun and adventurous beach activities to the most brave and deserving among us; disabled U.S. military veterans.  Generally these experiences that we like to refer to, as “storming the surf” are unavailable to the disabled without safe instruction and appropriate lifeguard presence.

Entirely supported by donations and managed by volunteers whose sole purpose it is to help enhance the lives of our heroes and those with challenges, Operation Beachhead continues to expand its programs and services to offer a variety of year round activities including winter sport programs providing free services and opportunities to 225 participants.

On Saturday August 18th, Operation Beachhead, American Legion Post #184 and Kona Surf Shop in Wildwood, will be hosting The Fourth Annual Charlie Butler Memorial Storm the Wildwood Surf. The event will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Davis Avenue beach behind the Wildwoods Convention Center. This event is opened to all current and past military and their families and is geared to help those with physical and emotional challenges the opportunity to participate in a safe and viable manner. This event is also open to non-military physically and emotionally challenged adults and children.

If you or someone you know would benefit from this day of fun, recreation, and inspiration, please send an email to: janepotoczniak@gmail.com, with subject: Wildwood, or call George @ (732) 986-6462

An idea became a vision; a vision became a mission; and a mission brought Operation Beachhead to life.  This life continues to grow through the support of people who wish to show their appreciation and thanks to our veterans.
