National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September. It honors those who were prisoners of war (POWs) and those who are still missing in action (MIA). Today, nearly 82,000 service members remain unaccounted for, from conflicts dating back to World War II. Please check your local newspapers/news outlets for a POW/MIA Service nearest to you.
