Join Warriors Watch and friends as we thank 94 yr old, WWII US Navy Veteran Irv Elliott for his service to our country. He was a Gunner on a Seaplane, a Catalina Patrol Bomber. Known as “The Black Cats”, as they patrolled at night, from sun down to sun up. Patrolled for Japanese submarines and convoys. “Cleared the way” for the 7th Fleet to move in. Carried depth charges or torpedoes. Irv was a “waist gunner” on the side of the plane. He was shot down once, in the China Straits, and they were picked up by US torpedo boats. Their runs were every three days, in between runs Irv taught classes on how to recognize the Japanese planes vs the US planes. He had studied the Japanese planes; their shapes, firepower, etc. He used slide projectors to teach the others what he knew.
Meet/Rally at Shoprite, 892 Union mill rd, Mt Laurel at 3pm
