The Moving Wall” is the half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC and has been touring the country for thirty plus years. Two structures of The Moving Wall now travel the USA from April through November, spending about a week at each site. The Division of Veterans Services, County of Bergen, is sponsoring “The Moving Wall visits Bergen County.” The event will be at held at Overpeck County Park from May 19th through May 23rd. There will be an opening ceremony on May 19th at approximately 5pm. After the opening ceremony the site will be available for visiting from 7am – 10pm.
This commemoration is to (1) Help bring healing to veterans, families, and friends of those who died or are missing in Vietnam. This event will give an opportunity to those who may not be able to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. (2) Educating the community about the war in Vietnam, its impact on our nation, and our veterans is another motive for this event.
