Welcome Home Vietnam Vet Mark Mooney
Our Hero, Mark Mooney is finally receiving a long overdue Welcome Home being hosted by American Legion Post 84, Oaklyn, NJ where he had been the Commander. He had also been the Commander of the Audubon American Legion and Vice Commander of the Camden County Legion.
Mark had reveived various commendations while in the service of his country July 1968 to July 1970. While in Vietnam he received the Bronze Star (W/V Device), Purple Heart, Air Medal, 2 Army Commendations (W/V Device), Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal (w/ 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Galantry, National Defense, Two Overseas Bars, New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal, New Jersey Vietnam Service Medal, and Camden County Military Service Medal.
Mark was a teacher in Medford for 27 years and was involved in the Medford Education Association for 19 years. He served on the Audubon Zoning Board for 8 years and Chairman of the Audubon Ambulance Squad for 8 years.
Mark is thinking this will be just another day going to bartend at Post 84 canteen. We will surprise him with a meet and greet at his door and then escort him to work in Rock Star Style, parading him through Audubon, Collingswood and finaly Oaklyn where a larger crowd will meet and greet him. Refreshments will be served courtesy of the Post 84, Oaklyn American Legion. All are invited and welcome to participate. Refreshment will be available 2-6pm at the Post.
