Dear Volunteer:

Thank you for volunteering!  The countdown is on and the excitement is growing!  It has taken months of planning and hard work to finally bring this event to fruition and you will be able to say "I was part of this great event".

In a few short days, the WALL will be arriving, brought to the Daniel Boone High School by a motorcycle escort.  Motorcycles from near and far will be escorting The Wall That Heals, gathering at our rally point at The Sunnybrook Ballroom parking area in Pottstown.  The escort will leave promptly on July 5th at  9 a.m. and should arrive in Birdsboro by 10 a.m.  Tell your friends and family to support and witness this once in a lifetime procession along 422 West between Pottstown and Birdsboro.  Wave your flags and show your support as they slowly pass by.  Vietnam Veterans will be leading the truck in the procession and the remainder of the motorcycles will be following the truck, protecting it and keeping it safe.  Give them the "Welcome Home" that our nation seemed to have overlooked so many years ago.

Volunteer Training (for GREETERS ONLY):  You will need to arrive for your initial Volunteer training on Thursday, July 5th at 5 p.m.   Please park in the East parking lot (enter at Garey Road).  Upon your arrival sign-in at the Information tent and receive your volunteer t-shirt.  At 5:30 pm a brief overview of the site e.g. VSO’s, amenities and guidelines will be reviewed.  After which The Wall That Heals staff will then provide a hands-on training regarding the TWTH, Mobile Education Center and the etiquette of a greeter.  Training is expected to be 45 minutes.

Those of you who cannot attend the initial training should arrive 1/2 hour before your shift times to be briefed by the departing greeter.  Upon arriving for volunteer shift and departing at end of shift we ask that you sign in and out.

There is so much to learn and experience at the WALL.  Your life will be forever touched by your individual experience.  Let's be professional, reverent and, most of all, compassionate in assisting the public with each of their needs.

In the spirit of service, not self.
